Paul Litchfield, Founder, City of Litchfield Park
Posted by the Litchfield Park Divorce Lawyer: If you’ve lived in Litchfield Park for any length of time, then you know that this small city encompassing 3.1 square miles has a very rich history.
In 1916, Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company started buying acreage in the Salt River Valley area, including 5,000 acres in what was then known as Litchfield Ranch. Paul W. Litchfield was the junior Goodyear executive from Akron, Ohio, charged with the task of acquiring land for growing long-staple cotton, a necessity in tire production.
Paul Litchfield loved it here and built his Rancho La Loma which is being restored by the city. Paul Litchfield became president of the Goodyear-Zeppelin Corp. and became CEO in 1930. He was instrumental in getting Luke Air Force Base built at Litchfield Park.
